A car that drives itself? It's not only possible, it's a reality thanks to Google. It doesn't have a steering wheel, accelerator or brake pedal, because it doesn't need them. The Google software and sensors do all the work. What would you do with all that extra time in the car if you don't have to worry about traffic, construction or finding a parking spot. The prototype was taken on a test drive and the response was overwhelmingly positive.

How does the Google Car work on busy city streets. The sensors in the Google Car detects object as far away as two football fields. Watch the video that shows the car anticipating traffic and construction ahead of time and corrects for the situation.

The prototype has two seats, a place for your belongings, a stop/start button and a screen to show you where you're going. That's it. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

How soon will we see Google Cars on the road? It's still a few years away. You can follow the Google Car updates at Google +.
