Syracuse Football Home Opener Against Wagner – Uncle Smitty’s Take

It took a few days to talk "Uncle Smitty" off the ledge after the Orange's 48-27 blowout loss to Northwestern last weekend. He's recovered finally and able to talk about Syracuse's home opener this weekend. Click for "Uncle Smitty's" take on the game.

It's a good thing The Orange were on the road last weekend. "Uncle Smitty" who soothes his nerves by consuming "Dome Dogs" when things aren't going well, may have eaten every "Dome Dog" in the Carrier Dome.  'Cuse didn't start well falling behind 20-0 early in the game.

After opening with 2 road losses to a pair of tough Big Ten teams, Syracuse plays at home for the first time this year.  And speaking of firsts, they host Wagner College from Staten Island for the first time.  The Seahawks come into the game with a 1-1 record beating Georgetown 28-21 and losing last week in a wild one 42-41 to Merrimack.

Uncle Smitty's Keys to the Game

• Getting off to a fast start, game plans go out the door when you're way behind early.
• Taking care of the football on offense, QB Drew Allen threw four picks last week and has six in two games.
• Less mental mistakes like penalties

For luck, Uncle Smitty says he will be switching to sausages this week instead of Dome Dogs.  He rates the home opener a 3 sausage-er.  Kickoff is at 4 p.m.
