The dreaded 'S' word has entered the forecast. After being in the 80's just a few days ago, some places in central and upstate New York could see snow before the weekend is over.  According to the National Weather Service, there is a possibility of snow in some areas of the southern Adirondacks Saturday night into Sunday.

The forecast says an inch or even a few inches could fall overnight in the higher elevations of the tug hill area, in northern Oneida County and in parts of the Adirondack Mountains.  There is also the possibility of very strong winds Sunday.

In the early 1990's we had a heavy snowfall in the Mohawk Valley one week before Halloween.  But after the warmer than average fall we've had, that possibility seems almost impossible for this year.

Tuesday and Wednesday we were wearing shorts and T-shirts.  Less than a week later it could be boots and heavy coats.
