Central New York Streets, Homes, and Campgrounds Under Water
April Flooding Leaves Basements, Roads, and Campgrounds Under Water
Heavy rainfall and rising waters across Central New York have flooded basements, roads, campgrounds, and turned some homes into lakefront property.
Residents have been sharing jaw-dropping photos and videos of the flooding, including one from Cody Pitcher, owner of CJ Gutter Co, capturing a gazebo and deck floating down the Erie Canal towards Oneida Lake in Sylvan Beach.
Rising Waters on Fish Creek
In Taberg, Fish Creek has swelled dramatically, with videos showing the river running massively and fast.
Joseph Wagner shared the scene, showing just how much water is on the move.
Tagasoke Campground Flooded
All that water from Fish Creek has moved into the former Tagasoke campground, leaving several campers sitting in lots of water.

The site is now partially underwater, though thankfully, opening day is still a month away, giving the water time to recede.
Turn Around, Don’t Drown
One driver got a real-life lesson in flood safety when a car was carried across the road by floodwaters in Depew.
Luckily, everyone was safe, though motorists are reminded: never drive through flooded roads or ignore road-closed signs.

A few ducks seemed to be the only ones enjoying the water.
Road Closings
Flooding has blocked multiple roads across the area, including:
- NY 28, both directions between White Creek Road (Newport) and Newport-Gray Road
- 922A both directions between Main Street (Whitesboro) and Cavanaugh Road; CR 30; NY 49 (Marcy)
- River Street, both directions, between Route 49 (Oriskany) and Route 69 (Oriskany)
- I-88, both directions between exits 10 & 12

Stay Safe
As the waters continue to rise, residents are urged to monitor local alerts, avoid flooded areas, and take precautions to protect their property and themselves.
With rivers, creeks, and lakes swelling, it’s clear that April’s flooding is making a big splash across the state.
