Rome Salvation Army Captain Ringing Bell for 24 Hours
Captain Alan Krueger of the Rome Salvation Army will be ringing the bell at the Rome Walmart for 24 hours.
This will all start on Friday, December 21st at 6PM and continue until Saturday, December 22nd 6PM. All donations made during this event will be matched by generous donors from the Rome Area. The overall Red Kettle goal for the holiday season in Rome is $70,000.
Donors who gave to the red kettles last year helped provide nearly 65,000 meals to people in need right in Rome. By ringing the bell for 24 hours, Captain Alan Krueger hopes to make people aware how essential these kettles are to their work year-round.
During Krueger’s 24-hour shift, donations made to the kettle at Walmart or his virtual kettle online will be matched.
The Salvation Army is currently enrolling local celebrity bell ringers from the area to take shifts alongside Captain Krueger throughout the event. Celebrity bell ringers will be announced the week before the event.
