If you live in Rome, New York you're one happy person.  The city is among the Top 10 happiest in the state.

According to Creditdonkey.com, Rome is the second happiest place to live, beating out  Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse, who didn't even make the list. Rome is also the second best place in the state when it comes to housing costs and low crime rate.  Restaurants, divorce rates, income and daily commutes were also taken into consideration.

  • Restaurants: 1 for every 421 people
  • Odds of being the victim of a violent crime: 1 in 735.7
  • Commute time: 17.5 minutes
  • Leaving for work before 5 a.m.: 2.9%
  • Median household income: $44,220
  • Divorce Rate: 11.7% of males, 13.9% of females

Two well known authors once called Rome home. Francis Bellamy, who penned the Pledge of Allegiance and the man behind Roots, Alex Haley.  The Commission of Major League Baseball, Robert Manfred is also from Rome.

In July, Rome came in third for the best place to live in New York.  Makes sense with all those happy people.
