It's time once again for the Boonville-Oneida County Fair. This year's concert headliner is former FrogFest headliner Rodney Atkins. We had the chance to talk to him ahead of Saturday's show and he can't wait to see all the hard working farmers and fans at the show.

For any musician, real-life experiences truly influence every note they write, play, or sing. There is no better example of this than Rodney Atkins. Songs like "These Are My People," "Watching You," and "Going Through Hell," are all perfect examples of songs that were written because of moments in Atkins' own life. That is the beauty of country music and as the "Cleaning This Gun Singer" said, he loves hearing the stories of people his music has helped.

When it comes to writing music, connecting real life to song, is all he knows how to do. He says, "I just try to draw from real life, that's country music, it's relatable, and it's real. And Ultimately that is what anyone is trying to do with music." He goes on to say that the more specific you can get to someone's experience, the more it will hit home.

The former FrogFest guest also talked about some of the charitable organizations he's a part of. That led to our discussion on the difficulties facing local farmers, all across the country. For those who may be facing a tough time on their own farm, Atkins has this to say, "I get how incredibly tough it is, and it just means the world for what these people go through. It's unbelievable and my heart goes out, it's something very close to my heart." He went on to talk about a new song, one he's most proud of, that is dedicated specifically to those in the farming community. He hopes to perform it this Saturday night.
