It's summertime. Maybe since the snow melted you've been dying to wear your flip flops. Should you even be wearing them? Here's a few reasons from doctors and science why you should never wear flip flops again.

Dr. Jackie Sutera, a podiatrist and spokesperson for the American Podiatric Medical Association, will be the one breaking your flip flop wearing hearts.

1) They Expose Your Feet To Everything

Seriously, think about it: your feet are being exposed to bacteria, viral, and fungal infections.

2) They Destroy Your Heels

Your heels hit the ground with more force when there's nothing but a small piece of rubber/foam separating your foot from the ground. MSNBC points out that walking in flip-flops accentuates the heel-strike impact, which pretty much ends up causing pain

3) They Can Permanently Damage Your Toes

Wearing flip flops can lead to hammertoe, and of course cause painful bunions. When you wear flip-flops, your toes work hard to keep the shoe on your foot, which can cause hammertoe over time.

Don't NOT wear them, try to wear better ones. Also, maybe wash your toes every once in a while.
