1) Public Health Sanitarian: This job involves "inspection of the non-engineering aspects of environmental health control," according to the job description. This could include tasks such as inspecting restaurants, private water supplies and disposal systems, beaches and swimming pools, residences and more. The job includes interpreting laboratory reports, supervising and training subordinates and testifying at enforcement proceedings.

2) Public Health Technician 1: With a starting salary of $34,270, this is an entry-level position assisting public health sanitarians and engineers. Applicants must have an associate's degree or have completed 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university and have taken at least 15 credit hours in the natural sciences (not more than 6 credit hours of which can be applied sciences). If hired, the employee must complete a public health training course within two years.

For the Public Health Technician 1 position, the application deadline is Jan. 15 and the testing date is March 11.
