A red solo cup is the best receptacle for barbecues, tailgates, fairs and festivals - and we have the late Robert Leo Hulseman to thank for it.

Hulseman passed away peacefully last week at the age of 84, surrounded by his family in his Arizona home.

His father Leo started the Solo Cup company in 1936 with paper cone-shaped cups.

Robert began working at the factory when he was 18 and served as President and CEO from 1980 to 2006.

During his time at the Solo Cup Company, 'Bob' created one of the most iconic drinking vessels the world has ever seen - the 'red solo cup.'

Just ask Toby Keith:

So as you head to your New Year's Eve Parties on Saturday, remember when playing beer pong or flip cups to raise a 'red solo cup' to Bob Hulseman.

Without him we'd probably be drinking out of Styrofoam or glass, and you know what Toby says if you prefer to use glass!
