More Layoffs At Remington Arms in Ilion
A second round of layoffs at Remington Arms in Ilion. 126 employees were let go this week. This comes after 105 were laid off in August. The news isn't sitting well with local politicians and area residents.
Thanks Cuomo for killing NY manufacturing. 126 layoffs at Remington today. @RemingtonArms is oldest manufacturer in NY. #iconicremington

@claudiatenney @RemingtonArms Terrible new. Unfortunately, terrible business climate across #NewYork continues for all businesses. #NYS

Many feel the layoffs are a direct result of the New York Safe Act, which was passed after the Sandy Hook tragedy. The gun control law outlaws automatic weapons in the state, including the Bushmaster rifle, made at Remington Arms.
The Ilion factory celebrates its 200th anniversary in a few months. How much longer can Remington Arms hold on before they have to close for good?
Thanks Governor Cuomo for killing more manufacturing jobs in New York! Great timing too, with the holidays around the corner. Maybe we should call you the Grinch who stole jobs in NYS.
