Lake Effect Snow Warning and Wind Chill Advisory 1/27/14
Along with cold temperatures comes some Lake Effect Snow. The National Weather Service has issued a Lake Effect Snow Warning for Northern Oneida County from 1 this afternoon until noon tomorrow. The Wind Chill Advisory is for Southern Oneida, Herkimer, Madison and Onondaga counties from midnight tonight until noon tomorrow. Click for details.
* LOCATIONS... NORTHERN ONEIDA COUNTY.
* HAZARDS...LAKE EFFECT SNOW AND BITTER COLD WIND CHILLS.
* ACCUMULATIONS...7 TO 13 INCHES OF SNOW.
* TIMING... LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL DEVELOP MONDAY AFTERNOON AND
CONTINUE THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING.
* WINDS...WEST WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 35 MPH.
The wind chill advisory will again make hypothermia and frostbite a real possibility . Temperatures will fall below zero, making wind chills of 25 below possible. In addition gusty winds will blow snow making reducing visibility.
