Since late April, Keith Urban hasn't shied away from sharing videos and photos direct from the recording studio. He took things a step further on Tuesday (May 7), teasing the May 14 release of a new single titled "We Were."

There's no audio or additional details attached to Urban's post -- just one line that teases a lost love in terms any bar-hopping country fan will understand: "Never thought we'd fade like the stamp on the back of her hand." Urban captioned the post with the hashtag "#WeWere" and the date of May 14, 2019.

"We Were," not to be confused with Urban's 2013 Miranda Lambert duet "We Were Us," first appeared in Urban's live set on Feb. 14, during a label event at the 2019 Country Radio Seminar. Footage from that performance still makes the rounds online and reveals more sugary sweet analogies: "We were leather jackets hangin' onto a Harley / Two heartbeats in the moonlight / We were both feet hanging over the edge of the water tower skyline."

The song was so new in February, in fact, that Urban, in a lighthearted moment, paused during the performance because he'd forgotten his freshly written lyrics.

Time will tell if recent recording studio visits by the reigning CMA and ACM Entertainer of the Year will lead to just a single or two or to a full-length follow-up to 2018's Graffiti U. At April's 2019 ACM Awards, Urban performed a cover of Irish singer-songwriter Foy Vance's song "Burden," and later released a studio version of the track, but he didn't release the song as a single.
