Today may be the day April the giraffe finally gives birth.

Animal Adventure Park owner Jordan Patch told GMA, the doctor is on site. "April has progressed significantly overnight. Today is not the day to stop watching. We are close. All signs are go."

"Giraffes' instinctively hide the labor signs," explained Patch. "But once we are in full labor it's a quick process. It can be 30 to 60 minutes before we have a calf on the ground."

This isn’t April’s first time giving birth. “It is the first one at Animal Adventure but she’s a season pro," Patch told us in February. "She knows what she’s doing. If anyone has kept their cool during this process it’s April.”

Unlike humans, giraffes give birth standing up. “It stops the calf from being crushed,” said Patch. “It severs the umbilical cord. It gets it started breathing. When the birthing begins we want her standing.”

After weeks of watching and waiting, will we finally see April give birth today? I'm sure no one is more ready than April herself.

The Animal Adventure Park is located in Harpursville, 15 minutes outside of Binghamton. Get details at TheAnimalAdventurePark.com or on Facebook.
