Immerse Yourself in the Wizarding World with a Hogwarts Escape Room
Time to put on your robes and head to the 9 3/4 platform because this new quarantine activity will immerse you into the wonders of the wizarding world. But where you're going, you won't need a wand. This new Harry Potter-themed virtual escape room tests your wizarding knowledge, and you'll have to think each decision through if you want to make it through!
Sydney Krawiec, a youth services librarian at Peters Township Public Library in McMurray, Pennsylvania, created the online escape room for Harry Potter fans. The experience starts with a scenario that leads you, and a few other Hogwarts students, to a dark, locked room on your first night at school. But without the help of your wands (or any type of magic, for that matter), you must answer a series of riddles and follow the clues as a regular ole Muggle would, using your brain.
You can play as many times as you'd like and challenge your friends to see who can get out the quickest. Get started and jump into your Hogwarts experience from the comfort of your own home here.
This may be the most action Harry Potter fans see anytime soon because of the coronavirus pandemic. Warner Bros. announced in January that it was opening the world's largest Harry Potter store in New York City this summer, but there has been no word since, and with the number of events getting canceled and postponed because of COVID-19, it's likely the Harry Potter store has been affected as well. We have reached out to Warner Bros. on the progress of the NYC store, but have not heard back.
When it does open, the store will be located at 935 Broadway next to the iconic Flatiron building. It will feature interactive experiences, endless photo opportunities, and "the largest collection of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts products in the world under one roof, with everything from personalized robes and Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans to a brand-new range of house wands with a design exclusive to the New York location," according to Warner Bros.
