They don't get the love and attention that dairy cows do, but sheep and goats are a viable farming operation around CNY.  If you're thinking of adding them to your current operation or expanding a herd you already have, don't miss Cornell Cooperative Extension 's workshop January 30.
Oneida and Madison Counties' CCE programs are presenting the day long program for beginning and experienced sheep and goat producers.  Among the topics that will be covered:

  • improved animal health
  • diseases and health concerns
  • preventative practices and vaccination schedules
  • animal nutrition
  • growing your business
  • financial record keeping and pre-planning

Among the presenters will be experienced goat and sheep farmers,Corey Hayes from Morrisville State College and Ron Kuck, Dairy and Livestock Educator at Jefferson County CCE

The workshop is January, 30th from 9:00am -3:30pm at the Oneida County CCE Office, 121 2nd St, Oriskany, NY. Registration will begin at 8:30am.
