Does Your Child Love Animals, Could It Be A Career? – AG Matters
Does one of your children express a love for animals? We're talking a "Noah-like" fascination with all living creatures. Cornell Cooperative Extension is hosting two programs related to animal sciences.
From Airedales to Zebras is the theme for the beginner 4-H Veterinary Science Program that will be held February 15 and 16 at CCE's offices in Oriskany. The program designed for youth in grades 3-5 will teach them:
- the ability to identify different breeds of animals
- interpret an animal’s behavior
- describe the different roles of animals
- identify nutrients in feeds
- explain the purpose of body systems
- measure medication properly
- make your home safe for pets
- explain veterinarians' tools
The veterinarians at the Herkimer Veterinary Clinic will present the program in action at the clinic and on a farm visit. The cost of the program is $15 for 4-H members and $20 for non 4-H members. To register or get more details call Jennifer Collins at the Herkimer 4-H Office at 866-7920 or email jlr34@cornell.edu.
