The Town of New Hartford is moving into a new home that many will find familiar-looking.

New Hartford officials have announced that they have bought the empty Gander Mountain building and plan to turn it into a consolidated Town Offices building.

The purchase will cost $1.9 million, was a unanimous decision by the board.

Now, the 50,000 square foot space will house every one of New Hartford's departments instead of having them spread out over 5 separate locations.

New Hartford Town Supervisor Paul Miscione told toe Observer Dispatch that the $1.9 million for the building would be offset by leasing out and even selling some of the Town's existing buildings like Butler Hall.

When everything is approved and the sale is final, Miscione said he hopes to start retro-fitting the building to accommodate New Hartford Officials as soon as June, and be moved in by October this year.
