CNY Firefighter Honored By His Department For His Service
Many first responders have to wear many different hats in their line of work. Darren is a prime of example of this.
Meet Darren Heidelberger
Dedicated and hard-working are two words that best describe Darren. He is a proud 14-year member of the Newport Fire Department, serving as the Second Assistant Chief for 5-years as well. He is always ready to go as soon as the call comes in.
Not only does Darren serve as an EMT and firefighter, but he also works full-time job at the time. They are all jobs that take a lot of guts to do, but he has never been scared of the challenge ahead of him.
[Darren] is always ready to go on an EMS or fire call when the scanner says "Newport" or "KAVC".
For someone who has a lot on his plate, Darren continues to be an inspiring beacon of light in the Newport Fire Department. Not only is he a leader in the community, but he serves as an amazing role model for other firefighters aspiring to be just like him.
Do you know a first responder that deserves to be recognized? Tell us about someone who should be honored in Central New York - a firefighter, police officer, EMT, forest ranger, paramedic, DEC officers, military, rescuers, front line workers, or any other person first on the scene.
Include their name, a picture, and why they should be recognized during 'First Responder Friday." We'll honor one first responder every Friday and as a way to say thank you, we'll give them an oil change from Jiffy Lube on Commercial Drive in New Hartford and a Bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
