River, the dog who was left abandoned next to the Erie Canal in Rome, is now up for adoption.

River was found abandoned next to the Erie Canal on July 30th and now seems to be doing well. River has been eating well, and has passed the mandatory temperament testing. She is scheduled to be spayed and then will be put up for adoption at the SPCA in Syracuse. Adoption fees start at $150 in Syracuse, and you can learn more online.

WKTV reports the 2 men arrested for allegedly tying River up to a log have been charged with abandonment of an animal which is a class A misdemeanor.
