He'd become somewhat of a household name among hockey fans in Utica, but Darren Archibald is no longer a Utica Comet.

Archibald, 25, signed a contract this week with the ECHL's Kalamazoo Wings. The Canadian-born winger was a fan favorite over his two years in Utica, marking the return of professional hockey in the city. Not only did fans appreciate his physical style and hustle, but 'Archi' lit the lamp at the AUD, too

In his 129 games with Comets, Archibald tallied nearly 50 regular season points. A leg injury forced him to miss significant action during the Comets' Western Conference title run this past season.
