One sure sign of the holidays is the Christmas tree lighting at 30 Rockefeller Center in New York City. This year's tree has a special meaning, as it survived the torrential winds and floods of Hurricane Sandy. My daughter was in New York City yesterday when the tree arrived and sent me this photo.

According to The Huffington Post :

"After surviving the high winds of Hurricane Sandy, the tree destined to grace Rockefeller Center this holiday season made its grand arrival in New York City on Wednesday.

The 80-foot Norway spruce was found approximately 50 miles away from the city in Joe Balku's backyard in Flanders, New Jersey.

Onlookers at 30 Rockefeller Center gathered to watch officials hoist the tree into position on Wednesday. From there it will be decorated with more than 30,000 multi-colored lights and a Swarovski star."

The official tree lighting ceremony takes place onNovember 28, and once again will be broadcast on NBC-TV at 8:00 p.m
