An Upstate New York native Alyssa Trahan of Rochester just scored a record deal to record and sing in Nashville.

Alyssa grew up in the small town of East Rochester. She's been involved in music for her entire life.

I was always part of the music program as school (also studied music recording at Finger Lakes Community College), I was a dancer and over the years I've learned to play over a dozen instruments. As a kid, I always wrote songs in my head and put on little concerts in my bedroom. When I was about 11, I asked my dad to teach me how to play guitar (he was in a band back in the day before I was born, I always heard him playing around the house). I wanted to learn mostly so I could put music to the lyrics and melodies I came up with in my head.

After being bite with the music bug, she started writing and recording at age 14. Music was released online, and fans went nuts. From that point on, she started performing everywhere you can imagine in Upstate:

A friend of mine asked me to sit in with him at a weekly show of his one summer, and that's what got me wanting to play out every chance I got. I started playing at every venue that would have me, a lot around upstate NY and on the east coast. I ended up averaging over 100 shows a year, and that's still my average now!

Alyssa and her family went on vacation to Nashville one year, and ever since she stepped one foot in that town, the dream of Nashville started to run through her veins.

Nashville is notorious for being a slow town, but eventually things started looking up. I made some big connections and had some of my songs picked up to be pitched to well known country stars. I also had success as an artist, opening for names such as Charlie Daniels, Josh Turner, Jana Kramer, Joe Nichols, Rodney Atkins, Lee Greenwood and many more plus I released multiple new projects and experienced great success on streaming platforms like Spotify & Youtube.

One Alyssa met a publisher, the dream started to become a reality. She sent him new songs, and in return he would set up some writing session for her.

One day, he invited me to his office and said that was exactly what he wanted to do. I had been offered my first publishing deal. I couldn't believe it, I cried on the way home! A publishing deal is the dream for every songwriter that moves to Nashville, I feel so blessed, lucky and excited for what this means for my career!

The publishing company is called Dan Hodges Music, and is located right in the heart of it all on music row. Alyssa's music is often described as modern country with an organic sound paired with clever and thoughtful songwriting. She's also known for adding a touch of humor and sass to her songs. Alyssa has a bright career ahead of her. We can't wait to see what she can do!
