11 Year Old Holland Patent Student Helps Homeless Man [VIDEO]

While shopping with his mother 11-year-old 'Lee' wanted to help a homeless man sitting on the sidewalk in Utica.

Candy says her son noticed the man, known as 'King Richard,' sitting in front of Your Bargain Grocer. Lee asked if they could buy the man something to eat. Candy says she was stunned by the request but knew it was a moment that would stay with her son forever.

Candy says her family just moved to the area and it's been difficult for her son to make friends at a new school, but he's a very caring child. "He's compassionate but has never witnessed a situation like this. This man has been on his mind ever since he came into contact with him.

Candy hopes her son can set an example. "Maybe if more people see what an 11-year-old boy will do to help someone, more adults would be willing to do the same."
