Looking to catch some great trout in the Utica/Rome region of New York? Here's some of the top spots to drop a line.

1) West Canada Creek

West Canada Creek is actually a river located in Herkimer County. The Trenton Falls segment of West Canada Creek is reached by way of state Route 12 north from Utica to Route 28 east to the river.

The great thing about West Canada is that it harbors quality brown trout ranging from 12 to 18 inches, with an occasional 20-incher reported. Wild brookies that filter in from various tributaries are also present."

2) Oriskany Creek

The Oriskany Creek runs from Clark Mills to Deansboro. You'll find plenty of brown and brook trout throughout the river. There's a really great spot next to the bridge in Westmoreland to fish this river at. Find more from Google maps.

3) Mohawk River

You'll find plenty of trout throughout the entire Mohawk River. You'll find a great fishing spot near Westernville, right near the Delta Dam. If you love Brown Trout, you'll find plenty here.

4) Fish Creek

I know Fish Creek more for Walleye, but you'll find plenty of Brown Trout as well. Fish Creek runs from McConnellsville to Gifford Lake. There are several great spots throughout the entire river.
