Are you excited to catch some walleye or trout? Before you head out the door with the tackle box, take a look at some of the new fishing regulations New York state is putting in place on April 1st 2015.

According to CNYCentral, some of the new regulations effect baitfish rules, and clarification on different types of lures:

Among the changes are establishing year-round trout seasons in certain waters, revisions of baitfish rules, streamlining of rules for ice-fishing devices, and clarification of some rules regarding types of lures. The regulations also establish a closed statewide season for sauger and modify the statewide regulation for muskellunge by increasing the minimum size limit to 40 inches."

You can find all current New York State fishing regulations from the DEC website. If the 2015 list isn't posted yet, you're advised to continue to use the 2013-2014 regulations guide.
