Today In History We Lost Our First President

Can you believe it?  It’s December 14th already and almost halfway through the month.  A number of important events occurred on this date in history, including the death of our first president.

“In 1799 George Washington, the first U.S. president, dies at age 67, nearly

           three years after leaving office.
In 1819 Alabama becomes the 22nd U.S. state.
In 1911 Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen becomes the first man to reach the
South Pole, beating out an expedition lead by Robert F. Scott."
