He was the epitome of '80's cool. Sonny Crockett, played by Don Johnson, gave "Miami Vice" the fashion look every guy wanted. A loose suit over a T-shirt and deck shoes with no socks, now that was cool. Don Johnson, however, was fighting his own demons. "I was a multiple substance kind of guy", he tells Rolling Stone, "I would drink, smoke pot, do cocaine, maybe eat a Quaalude. I'd wake up the next morning feeling like I'd been hit by a truck". Not so anymore.
One of TV's longest running comedy's, "30 Rock" will end its 7 year run tonight on NBC. The show, created by star Tina Fey and co-starring Alec Baldwin, has won numerous Emmy's and other prestigious awards over the years despite struggling in the ratings. Despite its long run "30 Rock" is far from being one of the longest running sitcoms. Which ones were the longest?
If you watched the CBS sitcom "The Jeffersons" back in the 1970s and '80s, you saw Ralph the doorman for 11 seasons. Ned Wertimer, the actor who played Ralph, died earlier this month at age 89.
You know it's fall when apple cider is in season, football is back, and the leaves on the Greg "Splashin'" McShea lawn need raking (I'll get to it, I'll get to it). And, you know it's fall when "It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" featuring the "Peanuts" gang starts showing up on TV. It was first broadcast in 1966 and has been on TV every year since. It's one of our favorite Halloween-themed TV shows.
If you watched "Cheers" through the years, just about every episode had a classic entrance line by Norm, played by George Wendt. Today George Wendt celebrates his 64th birthday.

My daughter said she watched it and woke up shaking with fright at 3AM. It set a record for being the highest rated drama in cable history. It is the "zombie" sensation "The Walking Dead" on AMC and, according to Reuters, the season premiere was watched by 10.9 people. If you--like me--has no clue as to what it is about here is a brief synopsis.
The 1960s turned out memorable sitcoms, and on this day in 1961 "The Dick Van Dyke Show" premiered on CBS-TV. The show propelled the career of comedian Dick Van Dyke and launched the celebrity of Mary Tyler Moore. It was written by comic Carl Reiner, who appeared periodically as Alan Brady, the fictitious star of a comedy show that Van Dyke and gang were writers for. The show latest five seasons through 1966 but can be seen in reruns.
If you're a night owl, you've probably caught "The Tonight Show" on NBC TV. On this day in 1954, the original late night program that started it all, "Tonight" premiered on NBC. Comic genius (in my opinion) Steve Allen was the first host, and in its 58 year history, the show has had a total of five hosts. (actually six as Jay Leno has a host stint twice).
What? I always thought that we would be accused of being "couch potatoes" if we flopped on the sofa and watched TV. Here's the difference. A new study says that watching old episodes of your favorite TV shows can relax your brain and give it an energy boost. So, before we start breaking out the "I Love Lucy" DVD, let's see why.
One of our all-time favorite sitcoms debuted on CBS TV 50 years ago today in 1962, "The Beverly Hillbillies". Just to refresh your memory, the show was based on the story of hillbilly Jed Clampett (played by Buddy Ebsen) and his family striking oil on his backwoods property, and moving the whole gang to swanky Beverly Hills. The show was hilarious, and lasted nine seasons through 1971.
