If you have ever taken a train into New York City chances are your first impression was one of amazement as you walked the incredible Grand Central Station. One of the "Big Apple's" most impressive and historic buildings the it celebrated its 100th birthday on Friday with, according to the AP/YahooNews, a host of celebrities and festive ceremonies. Believe it or not it was almost torn down in the 1970's but for the efforts of one of America's most famous names.
January 15, 2013 Only in New York. Actually the concept has spread to other cities but in its place of origin the 12th annual "No Pants Subway Ride" went off without a hitch Sunday in the Big Apple. The idea was formulated by a group called Improveverywhere.com for no other reason than to celebrate silliness and, with this goal in mind, it has been a rousing success. November 15, 2012 One sure sign of the holidays is the Christmas tree lighting at 30 Rockefeller Center in New York City. This year's tree has a special meaning, as it survived the torrential winds and floods of Hurricane Sandy. My daughter was in New York City yesterday when the tree arrived and sent me this photo.
If you live in New York, you have to develop a pretty high tolerance for rats. They're all over the city's underground subway stations and their glowing, beady eyes are often seen in the trash that has been put on the sidewalk for pick up. But even the most hardened New Yorker doesn't want a rat anywhere near their personal space.
