Leonard Nimoy 82 Years Old Today

As you probably know by now, I'm a "Trekker", big time. And today Leonard Nimoy, a.k.a "Spock" of "Star Trek" fame is 82 years old. Just last Friday, William Shatner turned 82, and if you know their background, both played characters who were best friends on "Star Trek", and the two are best friends in real life.

With election day tomorrow, we've heard over and over again how important Ohio is as a swing state in the presidential election. As they've been saying, "Ohio, Ohio, Ohio". So, I thought it appropriate to celebrate the birth date of the "King Of The Cowboys", Roy Rogers (real name: Leonard Franklin Slye) who was born on this day in 1911, in Ohio! Roy died in 1998, but would have been 101 today.

If you remember "Monty Python's Flying Circus", the British import comedy series broadcast in the states on PBS, then you know John Cleese. He's celebrating his 73rd birthday today, and if you're a real die hard, you may remember him in that zany British comedy "Faulty Towers". You've also seen him in Harrry Potter movies as the ghost Nearly Headless Nick, who flies through several scenes at Hogwarts.

One of my all-time favorite NFL quarterbacks is Doug Flutie. Even at a height of 5'10", Flutie could throw the long one, rush for that first down and score touchdowns. I saw him play in person a few times when he was quarterback for the Bufffalo Bills. Flutie will always be remembered for that incredible "Hail Mary Pass" as QB for Boston College in a win against the Miami Hurricanes. Currently, you can see Doug Flutie as a college football TV analyst for NBC Sports. And, I own a few boxes of "Flutie Flakes" breakfast cereal, of which proceeds went to the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation For Autism.

One of the funniest movie characters of all time is "Cousin Eddie" from all of those National Lampoon Vacation movies. Today, Randy Quaid who portrayed Eddie is 62 years old. Randy is the older brother of actor Dennis Quaid. Unfortunately, Randy has had some legal problems in the last couple of years and reportedly is remaining in Canada for the time being.

He's 66 years old today, but for all of his football fame, Greene may be best remembered for an emotional Coca-Cola TV commercial, where he shows kindness to young fan.
