UPDATE: Tornado Kills Four in Madison County [PHOTOS]
UPDATE: The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF2 tornado with wind speeds of 100-125 mph touched down in Smithfield, New York where four people were killed. 35-year-old Kimberly M. Hillard, her 4-month-old daughter Paris Newman, 70-year-old Virginia Warner and 53-year-old Arnie D. Allen died. Details on the magnitude and path width are still being determined, however the 4 deaths would be the second most from one tornado in New York state history. There had only been 26 fatalities from 1952 to 2013 in the state.
The tornado destroyed four homes in Smithfield, causing one to come off it’s foundation.
"They found some stuff as far away as Route 46. Nobody in the county has ever had anything like this"Smithfield town Supervisor Rich Bargabos tells Syracuse.com, the house was ‘picked up and moved probably 500 feet across the road into another house. They found some stuff as far away as Route 46. Nobody in the county has ever had anything like this.‘
Friends and family are expressing their sorrow over the loss of Kimberly and her daughter on her Facebook page.
