Did Lawmakers In CNY Raise The Age For Buying Tobacco?

In Central New York, lawmakers have passed a proposal to raise the age for buying tobacco from 18 to 21. What do you think about this?

Onondaga County lawmakers voted in favor of raising the legal age to buy tobacco in the county to 21. Syracuse.com reports that the vote was 11-5. One legislator was absent. However, this isn't the last step:

Before the bill can become law, a public hearing must be conducted. It will then go to Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney for her signature. She vetoed a bill to raise the age to 19 in 2009, but the Legislature had enough "yes" votes to override her."
