Only in New York. Actually the concept has spread to other cities but in its place of origin the 12th annual "No Pants Subway Ride" went off without a hitch Sunday in the Big Apple. The idea was formulated by a group called Improveverywhere.com for no other reason than to celebrate silliness and, with this goal in mind, it has been a rousing success. Here is an explanation and a shorts, I mean short, video of the event.

The idea behind No Pants is simple: Random passengers board a subway car at separate stops in the middle of winter without pants. The participants do not behave as if they know each other, and they all wear winter coats, hats, scarves, and gloves. The only unusual thing is their lack of pants.

Here is a video of last years "No Pants Subway Ride". Check out the reactions from unwary passengers. Priceless!

Thanks goodness we don't have any subways around here!
