Country newcomer Michael Ray recently stopped by the Taste of Country Nights studio to tell his story, talk about writing with John Rich and debut some new music. The Florida native and winner of the CW's 'The Next' says he grew up on Bobby Bare and Porter Wagoner, but at age 16 heard Gary Allan -- "and that was it for me."

Rich was a mentor on 'The Next,' but since the show ended, he and Ray have remained in contact. They've written two songs together, including 'Run Away With You,' which Ray performed during his visit to the ToCN studios. The newcomer wasn't shy about sharing a few of the splendid details of the superstar's crib.

“He has a full bar,” Ray says of Rich's place. “My dad was cool dad, he built a bar by the pool and stuff. It was the size of this table … Homeboy has a bar, like what you pay cover to get into. It’s ridiculous!”

Listen to Ray sing 'Run Away With You' and look for him at the Walmart in Lufkin, Texas this weekend. To stay up to date on his tour stops, visit his official website.
