The Hinckley Reservoir is one of the most important resources in Central New York. The water supply built in 1915 provides over 130,000 people with clean drinking water, but also is a source of revenue for many summer businesses in and around Remsen, NY. With low water levels at the Hinckley, that means low levels on West Canada Creek as well.

No matter what side of the debate you are on, this drone footage gives us a bird's-eye view of the reservoir as of September 2016. It was indeed a relatively dry summer, and that can be cause for concern. You can always access more information, updates, and even access the Watershed map anytime at The NYS Canal Corporation website.
