Did Utica and Rome Reach Record Warm Temperatures For March 9th
What a difference a year makes. Last year we were shoveling snow banks higher than we were. This year, we're breaking records for warm temperatures.
Syracuse reached 78 degrees, which tied the record set in 2000, according to the National Weather Service. Ironically the old record was set on the same day; March 9th.
Binghamton broke the record of 70 degrees, set in 1990, after reaching 72.
The temperature in my car read 73 at noon in Marcy, New York.
In fact, 2015 was the warmest winter on record.
Will the unseasonably warm weather hang around? Temperatures will be cooler today and Friday but still warmer than normal. The weekend will be mainly dry with high temperatures in the 50s and 60s.
