January 4, 2013 The annual Gallup Poll of "Most Admired Man" and "Most Admired Woman" has been released and President Obama tops the former while Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is tops in the latter. It was Obama's fifth #1 finish and Hillary's seventeenth in the top spot, where she is the all-time leader in topping the poll. Among men former President Dwight Eisenhower is tops with 12 #1 finishes followed by Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton with eight each. Here's the list of leading 2012 finishers.
January 2, 2013 Students and staff at Sandy Hook Elementary head back to school tomorrow for the first time since the tragic shooting that killed 20 children and 6 adults. They'll be in a new building, about six miles away, but everything has been done to recreate the same atmosphere as before the shooting. According to KBMT 12 Furniture and supplies from Sandy Hook were moved into the Chalk Hill Middle School in Monroe. Teachers even took pictures of their classrooms before moving into the new school to keep everything the same.
January 1, 2013 It's a new year and with it comes a number of new laws designed to make the world a safer place. Sort of. While most laws tend to make sense there are some that defy logic. For example, according to ABC News, Illinois is making it illegal to possess, sell or distribute shark fins. Sure, it may be intended to protect certain species of shark but since Illinois--last time I looked--was nowhere near the ocean one has to wonder how big a problem this is.
