The show propelled the career of comedian Dick Van Dyke and launched the celebrity of Mary Tyler Moore. It was written by comic Carl Reiner, who appeared periodically as Alan Brady, the fictitious star of a comedy show that Van Dyke and gang were writers for. The show latest five seasons through 1966 but can be seen in reruns.

Just to refresh your memory, the show was based on the story of hillbilly Jed Clampett (played by Buddy Ebsen) and his family striking oil on his backwoods property, and moving the whole gang to swanky Beverly Hills. The show was hilarious, and lasted nine seasons through 1971.

And every Monday night, "The Andy Williams Show" on NBC was on our McShea family TV. Andy Williams died Tuesday night at the age of 84 from his battle with bladder cancer.
