The Mayor of Porterville, California, Cameron Hamilton, is under fire for his controversial comment during a city council meeting about a proposed anti-bullying 'safe zone.'

Hamilton 'I'm against bullying, but I'm getting damn tired of it being used as a mantra for everything, and the ills of the world. When all most people just have to grow a pair and stick up for them damn selves.'

A councilwoman pointed out 'it is hard to stand up and grow a pair when maybe you're a ten year old little girl.'

'Maybe the other ten year olds that think they want to stop bullying will stand up for her, instead of a safe zone with a placard and a bunch of training on how we're suppose to do it for them,' was Hamilton's response.

I'm guessing Hamilton wasn't bullied as a kid and doesn't have children.  Most kids won't break from the pack in school, to avoid being bullied themselves for standing out. I can understand why parents are outraged at Hamilton's comments.  Maybe someone should play him Hunter Hayes new song 'Invisible.'

Would he be more receptive to raising awareness on bullying if someone gets seriously injured or even killed?
