A sure sign of spring and warmer days ahead is the return of Major League Baseball, and  many of the teams have now assembled for spring training. Years ago, most of the teams headed to Florida to practice and play preseason games, and it became known as the "Grapefruit League".

In recent years, some of the teams have headed west to the desert - Arizona. That group has become known as the "Cactus League" (my thanks to my statistician, Matt Herkimer for that info). Actual exhibition games won't get underway until March, but isn't it great that we're talking baseball?

And things will look a little different this year - Albert Pujols gone from St. Louis and playing for the L.A. Angels, and the absence of recently retired catcher Jorge Posada from the Yankees lineup after 17 years.

Baseball fever! Play ball (almost)!
