Over the past year, I have written many stories. They have ranged from stories about celebrities to stories about survey, and, my always favorite, stories about animals. What I wanted to do to wrap up 2011 and ring in the new year, is share my favorite stories I have written this year. The stories I picked for my "Top 5" are stories that I found to be enjoyable to write, topics that were near and dear to me and stories that you, the readers, shared your thoughts about. I hope you enjoy.

One of my favorite things to do when I'm not blogging is taking photographs. So, this story was one that meant a lot to me when I wrote it. I was able to share a few of my photos with the readers and share my story about discovering new things in a city I grew up in. (To read "Downtown Utica - Zach's Weekly Snaps", or any of the other stories, just click the title above and you will be directed to the original story.)

Mia, the Chihuahua, loves country music. She will sing to Taylor Swift, Reba, Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert. I'm used to it because Mia sings all the time. I mean, she sings all the time. There have been times when I was in the middle of a deep sleep with the TV on, and Mia heard a country singer she wanted to sing along to, and she would just start howling--it makes you wake right up, to say the least. Check out this video from November of Mia singing to Miranda Lambert's "More Like Her" song.

My girlfriend, who is from western New York, and I will always have the discussion--pop or soda? Being from central New York, I say, "soda," as do many of the people who live in this area. Well, she is from western New York where it's popularly called, "pop." Read about my thoughts on the topic, and, in the story, there is a pretty cool map that shows what the carbonated beverage is called all over the country.

This story from July was one that really surprised me. I write about a lot of animal videos--animals doing cute things, interesting things and funny things, but this video trumped them all. Just from the Big Frog main website, the video received 475 Facebook likes. You, the readers, really, really liked this one. If you haven't seen it, a Bulldog named Gus is determined to take his pool inside the house.

And, here it is, my favorite story of 2011. Have you ever stopped to think, "Hmmm, what's my favorite punctuation mark?" If you have, you think like me. Yes, I have actually thought about this and I can say my favorite punctuation mark is the comma (,). Why? Well, I use commas a lot. Check out this story, and maybe, we will walk away with a favorite punctuation mark, too.
