Waterville Teen Killed in a Car Crash in Sangerfield

A community is mourning the loss of a Waterville teen, killed in a car accident. 16 year-old Jonathan Beach died Saturday, July 14th in the town of Sangerfield after crashing into a tree on Mason Road.

A resident called 911 after hearing someone call for help around 1:30 in the morning, according to New York State Police. When troopers arrived, they found 18 year-old Michael Wood trapped in a pick up truck, waving his arm out the window and yelling for help. Beach died at the scene. Wood, from Oriskany Falls, was flown to the hospital with leg injuries.

Friends and family gathered to remember Beach, releasing lanterns in his honor Saturday and placing crosses along Mason Road Sunday.

The investigation into the crash is continuing.
