North Dakotans Describe CNY Staples and They Aren't Close

If you're from Central New York you know what the Boilermaker, Riggies, Adirondacks, Saranac, Orangemen and the Utica Comets are. If you're from North Dakota, you have no clue.

See what North Dakotans think these staples really are and try not to laugh too hard. At least one person knew who the Yankees were, at least we hope so since he's wearing the shirt.

Boilermaker

Although the Boilermaker IS a drink, it is NOT a pot to boil pasta in or an occupation as some in North Dakota think. It's also an annual road race in Utica that brings thousands of people from around the world.

Riggies

This is not a restaurant everyone goes to or candy as some North Dakotans think. Riggies are a Utica pasta favorite and you're missing out if you've never tried it.

Halfmoons

No half-moons aren't in the sky or showing half your butt. They are cookies created in Utica that many call black & whites.

Saranac

Saranac stumped most North Dakotans. It isn't a brandy. It's beer brewed at FX Matt Brewery in Utica.

Utica Club

This is not a place for the cool kids of Utica or an exclusive men's club in downtown. Utica Club is beer made at FX Matt Brewery.

Adirondacks

Adirondacks is not a word used for encouragement. It's mountains in Upstate New York or chairs

Comets

The Comets are not 'like in the sky' and would be upset to know someone thinks they are a female soccer team. The Comets are Utica's AHL hockey team with the loudest fans in the league. Just ask any opposing team.

Orangemen

Orangemen are not 'people who get bad spray tans.' They are the Syracuse team that is now just called the Syracuse Orange. Kudos to the one gentleman in North Dakota that actually knew the answer. He must be a basketball fan.
