Beware, Someone Is Scamming New York Veterans

There's a new phone scam and this one is targeting New York veterans.

Someone claiming to be from the Veterans Services Department calls offering to help with VA benefits. Then they start asking for personal information. "The caller seemed scripted, and appeared to sound as if calling from a call center," the Saratoga County Veterans Service Agency agency warned on Facebook.

Caller ID shows the call coming from Bolton Landing with the number 518-413-8843.

"Please note, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the NYS Division of Veterans Services, or local County Veterans Service Agencies will not cold call Veterans and request social security numbers or other sensitive personal information over the phone."
