Not only are the Utica Comets off to a phenomenal start winning all three games their first week playing at the AUD, but goalie Jacob Markstrom has been named the CCM/AHL player of the week. Markstrom is a 24-year-old native of Gavle, Sweden and is off to an incredible start this season with a 4-0-0 record and has .991 save percentage.

Markstrom has been in the league since 2008. He was drafted by Florida and is on pace to have his best season yet. His overall record is 65-58-7, but his career save percentage is .919 with 10 career shutouts. He already has three this season. This season he also has stopped 108 out of the 109 shots on goal while in between the posts. What does all this mean to those who have no idea about stats? Let's hope Jacob Markstrom stays in Utica for a good long time. Having Markstrom and Erikkson on the roster is a match made in AHL heaven!

Prior to an upcoming Utica Comets home game, Markstrom will be presented with an etched crystal award.
