For minimum wage workers in Upstate New York the hourly salary will increase to $9.70 cents Saturday, December 31st.   That rate will be in effect until the 31st of December, 2017, when it will increase by another 70 cents per hour.  That pace will continue each year until the minimum wage hits $12.50 at the end of 2020.

In other parts of the state, the hourly rate will increase even more, according to the NYS Labor Department website.  In New York City, the rate for businesses with 11 or more workers goes to $11 per hour this Saturday, and increases by 2 dollars an hour for the next 2 years, until it hits $15 and hour at the end of 2018.  For companies with 10 or less workers, the hourly rate goes to $10.50 on the 31st.  Keep in mind, those numbers do not apply to Upstate New York.
