Do you have unused farmland that's not tillable or looking for a low maintenance crop? Cornell Cooperative Extension's Mary Wrege suggests looking into the Biomass Crop Assistance Program.

Funding for landowners to grow willow biomass energy crops in northern NY State is now available through the USDA Biomass Crop Assistance Program (BCAP). The deadline for enrollment is September 25, 2015.

BCAP provides assistance directly to willow growers in the form of crop establishment and annual acreage incentive payments, and a secure market for the crop at ReEnergy biopower facilities for an 11-year contract period. More info on willow for biomass energy and BCAP is available at their website.
