Over 200 cows were killed in a barn fire in the Town of Trenton. Fire officials responded to Whittaker Road just after 11 a.m. on Sunday, January 6.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, firefighters from the Trenton Joint Fire District discovered the barn engulfed in flames.

They immediately confirmed there were no injuries or loss of human life. The barn was a complete loss and approximately 250 cattle died in the fire.

Traffic on Whittaker Road was closed for over 5 hours while firefighters battled the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation but it does not appear to be suspicious.
