The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down in Brookfield.

The twister tore the roof off Greenhouse Gala and damaged a silo at Gerry Elliott's farm. Elliott captured the tornado Tuesday, August 22nd before running inside for safety. "That's a tornado. Get in the house."

The damage to Greenhouse Gala, a popular wedding venue, left many brides scrambling to find a new place.

Earlier in the day, the National Weather Service confirmed a tornado also touched down in Madison County, Town of Georgetown.

Although tornadoes aren't common in central New York, they do happen. Last June one tore through the Vernon/Verona area, a few days before massive flooding hit the area. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come in the future.
