Gentleman, to avoid a miserable Valentine's Day make sure you pre-order her bouquet of flowers now! It's never too early to start thinking about the big day. One of the best things about country music is that we as fans can easily relate to it. If you're happy, there is a song for that. If you're angry there is a song for that. If you're annoyed with a friend or family member there is a song for that. One emotion that country music has always gone good with is sadness. That is because Country music is real. These artists put their own emotions into every lyric, every note, and every beat. During some of my own saddest moments I have turned to Country music.

During the Valentine's Day holiday, there are only two potential types of emotion that exist for people in a relationship. There is extreme happiness and extreme hatred. There really isn't any grey area. In the case of extreme hatred, break-ups can occur. For those of you who may experience that this year, and I hope you don't, I have compiled a list of the top 10 break-up country songs. I will start with number 10 and count down to 1.

10. Carrie Underwood - "Before He Cheats"

I know this is a pretty popular song so many of you are probably wondering why it's only number 10. If this was 3 or 4 years ago it may have been higher up on the list, but it's too overdone. It's been the song of choice for too many American Idol, The Voice, and every other singing competition audition and it's just kind of getting old. However, I do feel it definitely deserves to be on this list.

9. Darius Rucker - "Don't Think I Don't Think About It"

This is Darius Rucker's first single as a solo country artist. I love this song and I will never forget the first time I heard it. Having said that, I feel because the "voice" or character Darius is singing through in this song was responsible for the break-up directly, it is not the most heart breaking and stick it to em' song.

8. Jo Dee Messina - "Bye Bye"

Jo Dee Messina is a fiery red head with some great music. I will admit growing up listening to Country with my mom, I heard a lot of Jo Dee. I truly feel she belongs on this list. Not just because this is a definite break up song, but because she is a powerhouse female Country star. If it wasn't this song I chose it probably would have been "Lesson In Leavin'."

7. Luke Bryan - "Someone Else Calling You Baby"

There is nothing more hurtful than seeing a woman, or for you ladies, a man you once loved doing things with a new person that you used to enjoy together. This song encapsulates that so well. Luke Bryan is a great artist who knows how to bring out the hurt in someone and also bring out the party in them.

6. Joe Nichols - "Brokenheartsville"

I really enjoy Joe Nichols as an artist. Between his flawless voice and his excellent lyrics, he's top notch. In this song he compares his ex's new man to Satan. I am sure that all of us at some point have looked at an ex's new love and thought the same thing, that is why this is at number 6. On a side note, the guy who plays "the devil" was my professor in college. His name is Matt Chiorini. He's awesome.

5. Blake Shelton - "She Wouldn't Be Gone"

This is one of my favorite Blake Shelton songs. I love the tempo, the rhythm, and the lyrics. So many times the reason I have had a failed relationship is because of stuff I know I did wrong, and this song speaks to everyone who feels that way. Blake, you hit the nail on the head buddy.

4. Keith Urban - "You'll Think Of Me"

Sometimes the best thing to do when a break up occurs is to totally distance yourself from the person you cared about. It will be tough at first but in the long run it will pay off. If you truly love a person and you treated them as best as you could and they still don't see your the one, they will find out soon enough the grass isn't always greener on the other side. That is how I interpret this song and it's one of Keith's best.

3. Toby Keith - "How Do You Like Me Now?"

Although Toby didn't intend this to be a break up song, it's the perfect song to listen to after someone just demolished your heart and soul. If someone hurts you real bad there is no better feeling than having some event happen that helps you get over it and allows your confidence to recuperate. If it happens to make the other person feel dumb at the same time, I guess there's nothing wrong with that.

2. Aaron Tippin - "Kiss This"

What can I say about this Country Classic? The song title pretty much sums it all up. The best part of this song is the girl in the song thinks that she can play games and expect the guy to take her back. What better stick it to em' song is there than this?

1. George Strait - "Give It Away"

Last and certainly not least the classic country break up song by the king himself, George Strait. This one is called "Give It Away" and I picked it because it involves the biggest break up of all, divorce. If a break up happens to be horrible enough that it gets to divorce, well this is the song for that. This is a total relationship collapse and that is why this song is at number one.

So guys! My advice to you is make a plan early, buy a nice gift, and do something thoughtful. Otherwise, you may end up spending your Valentine's Day listening to these songs!
